Cian and Rancorrado finished 13th overall in the Individual European Championships at Windsor today. After the opening speed competition they were 23rd, and in the Nations' Cup they scored a 9 and a 4 to bring them up to 20th before today's individual final.
The Irish team finished in 7th place, and in today's final Cian had a clear and a 5, to take 13th place on 21.8 penalties. Best of the Irish was Cameron Hanley in 4th place with SIEC Livello on 11.83, followed by Darragh Kerins and the superb Night Train in 12th on 20.85.
The team championship was won by Switzerland, and the Individual Final by France's Kevin Staut on 9.42.
Mark and Irish Independent Echo Beach were 2nd in the final leg of the Premier Series at Coilog and finished 4th in the National Championships.
Baloufina gave Cian another great 2nd place at Dublin today in the Speed Derby, with Shane Breen winning the class on Mullaghdrin Gold Rain and Jessica Kurten 3rd on Castle Forbes Cosma.
Cian and his stable rider Mark Kinsella demonstrated today their level of professionalism, commitment and hard work - everyone wants to shine at the RDS and the two lads certainly did!
In the opening international class Cian placed 3rd with Splendor and in the speed Qualifier 2nd with Baloufina. Mark won the 6 yr-old Qualifier on Arabella and topped the evening off by winning the National Grand Prix Qualifier on the experienced Irish Independent Echo Beach.
Cian said afterwards: "I'm thrilled with the first day at the show. The weather was fantastic and that makes all the difference. All my horses jumped really well, which gives me great confidence for the week ahead.
"I was possibly even more thrilled to see Mark win the two Qualifiers in Simmonscourt. He has worked really hard over the past while, and it's great to see him develop into a top rider."
